Time for my favorite links from the month of June — including an embedded presentation!

1. “Become a Better Communicator at Work.”

“Communication is the funnel through which you put your expertise to work.” At the office or in your personal life, effective communication is key. This short blog post by Todd Dewett speaks about how to communicate your ideas in a way that makes others listen and care about what you are saying.

2. “The Ultimate Marketing Machine.”

“Structure must follow strategy—not the other way around.” An insightful article from Harvard Business Review about organizing a successful marketing structure in line with your firm’s goals and strategy.

3. “How to Reach Out to Influencers Without Being Ignored.”

Whether you’re reaching out to an expert to join an event panel or following up with a business contact you met through networking, there is a right way and a wrong way to go about it! Alison Kramer and Scott Stratten dive into examples and dissect the do’s and don’ts of connecting with people through this podcast hosted on their site, UnMarketing.

4. “The Greatest TED Talk Ever Sold.”

Morgan Spurlock, filmmaker and creator of the documentary Super Size Me, explores brand marketing: a candid 20 minutes on describing and pitching your brand.

5. “How to Determine the ROI of Anything.”

If only I had a nickel for every time I heard, “What is the ROI of social media?” … Gary Vaynerchuk, social-media brand guru, helps me out with this effective presentation. Flip through the slides for a creative perspective on the ROI of anything!
