Leadership at SMPS

November 1, 2011

A Letter from SMPS Boston President, Jessica Laskaris, Senior Writer, National Sales & Marketing Services at Gilbane Building Company

Now is a great time to get more out of your membership. While attending events provides you with education, current market trends, and networking opportunities, there is nothing more rewarding than leadership involvement.

By joining a committee, you will quickly form bonds with your fellow committee members as you join forces to develop programs. As you attend other committee events, you will soon get to know other committee members. Soon SMPS will become your peer group where we share stories and laugh and learn from each other. This happened to me and countless other long-term members. It all started by joining a committee.

The professional development and peer recognition you earn from rising up in your committee to become committee chair, committee board director, board executive committee member, and perhaps even president is a unique experience, providing valuable leadership skills not always available to us at our firms.
