SMPS and NAIOP Hit it Out of the Park

September 15, 2011

Wednesday’s breakfast was SMPS Boston’s largest to date – almost 400 people attended the program we co-hosted with NAIOP Massachusetts. Titled Campus Planning and Construction: New Developments for Boston’s Higher Ed Institutions, the program brought together a highly distinguished panel of Gordon King, Senior Director for Facilities Planning and Management at Suffolk University; Nancy May, Vice President of the Facilities Division at Northeastern University; and Paul Rinaldi, Assistant Vice President for Facilities Management at the Charles River Campus of Boston University.

Moderated by Robert Brown, AIA, IIDA, Principal at Perkins+Will, the program covered how the market crash of 2008 changed the landscape of construction for universities; how the universities are planning to meet the needs of their students, faculty, and administration within a dense urban environment; and how these academic institutions shape the City of Boston – and how they work with our many diverse communities.

Don’t miss out on SMPS Boston’s next event, on Thursday, October 13th: Best Practices in Competitive Intelligence: Learning from Other Industries. The program will be immediately followed by Mix@Six, the “updated” version of our previous Live@Five:30 networking event. Visit www.smpsboston.org for more details as they become available.
