Fall 2011 Lineup

September 7, 2011

A Letter from SMPS Boston President, Jessica Laskaris, Senior Writer, National Sales & Marketing Services at Gilbane Building Company

Welcome to the 2011/12 SMPS year! As we continue celebrating 30 years as a chapter, I am excited to share with you the Fall 2011 program lineup:

Member Appreciation Event

Join us as we kick off our new season with Back to Business at Legal Harborside. This is a great event to connect with your SMPS peers, where we encourage you to explore our committees to find a fit where you can participate with the chapter at a deeper level – to maximize the networking, educational, and business development value of SMPS to enhance your career.

Breakfast Programs

Our Fall lineup will update you on where the next wave of new work resides. The Fall series includes the September 14th breakfast Campus Planning & Construction: New Developments at Boston Higher Ed Institutions  and the November 2nd breakfast MassDOT: Forging a New Transportation Agency for the Commonwealth.

Education Events

This year’s education series is based on the SMPS six domains of practice, to support those seeking to take their Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM) exam. A study group info session will occur in October. For those of you whose firms don’t cover the cost of the exam, find out about our scholarship program at the info session. Also, register for the full education series and get a free SMPS Marketing Handbook, required reading for the CPSM exam.

Our upcoming education sessions provide vital education to succeed in your job, including the October 3rd session Best Practices in Competitive Intelligence: Learning from Other Industries providing information featured in this year’s SMPS Foundation Thought Leadership White Papers, and the December 6th session Reputation Management in the Era of Social Media.

Social Events

Following our education events, head out with the group to Mix@6. Catch up with your friends and meet new ones at this casual happy hour located within walking distance of the education sessions.

Also, this is the time to become a corporate sponsor. Promote your firm while supporting our chapter’s mission to be the primary resource for education, team building, and strategic and marketing information for SMPS members and others involved in the built environment.

Finally, I’d like to say thank you to the incoming board and committee chairs and members. As a volunteer organization, their dedication to the chapter is what allows us to provide you with excellent programs.

We have a great year ahead of us! Please feel free to call, e-mail, or pull me aside at the next event to share your thoughts and suggestions for a better SMPS Boston. See you soon!
