Charity Casino Night – March 31, 2011

March 3, 2011

Written by Joe Barry, Director of the SMPS Boston Outreach Committee

As many of you know, the SMPS Boston Outreach Committee focuses on planning events that benefit the community. For 2011, the Committee decided to turn the page and try our hand at a different big, annual event: we are replacing the annual golf tournament with a Charity Casino Night to be held on March 31 at the Taj Boston Hotel to benefit South Shore Habitat for Humanity.

More information on the event itself is on our website here, but we wanted to take this opportunity to let you know a little more about our event beneficiary, the South Shore Habitat for Humanity (SSHH).

SSHH is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to building simple, decent, affordable homes in partnership with families in need. Established in 1986, SSHH is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary and construction on its 50th home will soon be complete. SSHH serves 35 cities and towns south and southwest of Boston.

After moving into a Habitat home, our family partners find a new economic and emotional security they have not had before. These families get a renewed sense of self worth and develop a peace of mind that comes from knowing they have a safe and secure environment in which to live and raise their family. It is for this reason that SMPS Boston will donate all proceeds from this event to SSHH.

We hope you can attend the Charity Casino Night on March 31! Thank you for supporting SMPS Boston and South Shore Habitat for Humanity, and for making a difference in the lives of so many families!
