Meet Three New Members!

April 15, 2010

Every year, SMPS Boston holds a membership drive to recruit new members and help get them involved in the Chapter. This year’s membership drive began with a party at Lobby Bar and Kitchen on February 2nd, and culminated in true SMPS style with a party at Parrish Lounge on April 8th. Click below to “meet” three of the new members who joined our Chapter!

Lesley Allen, Marketing Communications Specialist, Stone Environmental, Inc.

Lesley Allen is Marketing Communications Specialist at Stone Environmental, Inc., a 33-person environmental consulting firm located in Montpelier, Vermont. Stone’s scientists study and mitigate the impacts of land use on water resources through research, field investigations, computer modeling, GIS spatial analysis, chemical analysis and engineering. Stone specializes in four service areas: contaminated sites investigation, applied information management, agrochemical fate and exposure assessment, and water resources management. Lesley works closely with each of Stone’s four business units to plan and/or deliver their marketing materials and campaigns, annual strategic plans, the company’s web site, tradeshows, and proposals and presentations. She moved to the US from Johannesburg, South Africa, in November 2002 and has been with Stone since 2003. Lesley – a one-person team at Stone – joined SMPS to tap into a wider network of experience and knowledge and to meet others in her field.

William C. Johnson, Vice President, Haley & Aldrich Inc.

Bill Johnson has been actively engaged in professional business development for 15+ years. Starting with a degree in civil engineering he added a variety of experiences from alternative energy, energy conservation, professional sales and certification as a facility manager. Bill has spent years developing an extensive network of clients and strategic business partners that has proven to be very beneficial. He looks forward to becoming an active member of SMPS Boston.

A. Krista Sykes, Architectural Consultant, Architecture in Context

Krista recently founded Architecture in Context, an enterprise that provides strategic research and analysis for design professionals. A former professor and published author, she adapts her expertise in architecture and culture to help clients secure commissions, broaden their approach toward design, and improve the quality of their work. She became a member of SMPS for the educational and networking opportunities. Her advice for new members: “Join a committee right away! My colleagues on the Membership Committee have been the greatest introduction to all that SMPS has to offer.”
